Students of the Summer University-2023 large-scale federal project lived and studied at SFU for a fortnight. During this time 300 foreign students from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Belarus, Georgia, Bangladesh, Jordan, China, Mongolia, Ecuador attended a number of specially prepared educational courses.
Seven programs were available to the participants of the Summer University-2023: "Management", "Engineering sciences: mining and metallurgy", "Engineering sciences: power engineering, mechanical engineering, motor transport", "IT technologies", "Biomedicine", "Philology", "Tourism".
Students got acquainted with the work of programmers and developers of computer games, learned how modern designers work using 3D-modelling, having an opportunity to see the finished product before it is produced in reality. The project participants also visited real production: they visited Krasnoyarsk non-ferrous metals plant and the laboratory of Krasnoyarsk Medical University. And since the Summer University is not only about studying, but excursions were also organized for the students - to the Stolby national park, Divnogorsk, Krasnoyarsk Hydroelectric Power Plant.
"I came to Krasnoyarsk to participate in the Summer University in order to better learn the culture and language in Russia. I want to work as a translator in the future and come back here, so it is already important to make acquaintances and friends," – said Liu Xinyue, a student from China.
Special attention was paid to the development of students' future competences - soft skills, which are not related to a specific profession, but contribute to the efficient solution of functional tasks, networking, and effective implementation of business activities. Numerous trainings and masterclasses were aimed at developing students' emotional intelligence, systemic thinking, cognitive flexibility.
"Within the framework of the Summer University there was a large course of lectures on social design. In addition, during the pastime, the participants attended six educational blocks on soft skills direction. One of the main goals of the project was achieved - to create a multicultural environment in which everyone felt comfortable. This work will eventually lead to the creation of new, first student and then more serious associations of international level. "The Summer University has already become a base for the development of a new stage of relations between the countries," – said Evgenia Ershova, curator of the Summer University-2023 project at SFU.
The Summer University project is aimed at introducing foreign students to the potential of Russian higher education. Siberian Federal University and two other federal universities - UrFU and KFU - are the project's base platforms. The event is coordinated by the Russian Ministry of Education and Science.
