On 10 July, Ural Federal University launched the Summer University federal project. The university welcomes foreign students from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Belarus, Georgia, China, India, and other countries. In total, more than 1200 students from 25 countries take part in the Summer University.
In Ekaterinburg, about 300 students are taking part in the Summer University project. They have been trained in 12 areas and will defend their projects on 21 July.
"I was born in Sichuan province, now I am studying in Beijing. I liked Ekaterinburg as a city to live in. The people in the Urals are very open, especially the volunteers. I liked the university, the people here are very diligent, intelligent, and smart. Many of them know several languages, while in China most of them speak only Chinese and English. Russian is too hard for us, it's difficult to learn.... What I liked most at the event was the opening ceremony. The principal of the university said very important things, talented people performed on the stage. I saw how friendly Ekaterinburg is to its guests, I feel very happy about it," – Wang Xiaowei, a participant of the project, shared his impressions.
We would like to remind you that the opening ceremony at UrFU started with the International Youth Cooperation in Intercultural Dialogue plenary discussion, where they discussed the importance of the project for effective international youth interaction and the issue of adaptation of foreign students in Russian universities.
"The Summer University project allowed international students to gain valuable knowledge and skills. It is also a great opportunity to expand cultural horizons and strengthen international ties. The admission of international students is one of the priority areas of development of our university, and we do our best to ensure their comfortable stay and study at UrFU. We provide them with the necessary support and help in adapting to the new environment, organize language courses, cultural events, offer comfortable accommodation.
And most importantly, we provide quality higher education to build a successful career. The students at the Summer University got acquainted with the educational programs, teachers and infrastructure of the university. All this allows them to get the necessary knowledge, to do science, to improve in creativity, sports, to show their talents to the maximum. Our guests from other countries were able to see for themselves the huge range of opportunities that the university has at its disposal," – said Viktor Koksharov, principal of UrFU.
The students at the Summer University visited many interesting places, for example, they visited the border of two parts of the world and looked at the Europe-Asia stela.
"The place turned out to be very beautiful: a small forest, pine trees, a big stela. It was surprising to learn that Ekaterinburg is in Asia, I had never thought about where exactly the border is," – said Vladislav Magai, a guest from Kyrgyzstan.
The project participants also visited Innoprom and got acquainted with the most relevant topics of modern industry in various areas: automation and robotics, digital manufacturing, transport engineering, and much more.
Siberian Federal University together with two other federal universities - UrFU and KFU - are the project's base platforms. The events are coordinated by the Russian Ministry of Science and Higher Education and FSASI Sociocenter.
