From July 6 to July 19, Kazan Federal University (KFU) will host participants of the large-scale international project "Summer University". The initiative is being implemented with the support of key partners, including major enterprises and public institutions: the Ministry of Youth Affairs of the Republic of Tatarstan, the Academy of Youth Diplomacy, the Russian Knowledge Society, the Khazine National Art Gallery, the G. Kamal Tatar Academic Theatre, the Kazan City Development Institute, the B. Rameev IT Park, and others.
This year, the project's key partner will be Rosatom State Corporation, which will for the first time organize an event for participants of the initiative at KFU. Kazan Federal University will offer training in six areas:
• Russia opens its doors;
• Software engineering: data, AI, and digital products;
• Business analytics 5.1: from data to management decisions;
• Astronomy and astrophysics: from elementary particles to the structure of the universe;
• Hybrid environment: architecture, design, and technology;
• Evolution of life: from survival to adaptation.
“This year, Kazan University will host this important event for the fourth time with the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation. The project is aimed at introducing international students to Russian higher education and attracting them to the university’s master’s degree programs. In 2026, young people from more than 20 countries will come to KFU to study at the Summer University. Approximately 430 participants are expected, including 330 international students and 100 students from Russia. Kazan Federal University will organize six tracks, two of which will be delivered in English. The programs will cover software engineering and artificial intelligence, economics and business analytics, the Russian language and Russian culture, architecture and design, medicine, and astrophysics. Participants will have access to a wide range of academic fields. The project is undoubtedly an effective support measure for those interested in pursuing a master’s degree. Today, about 20 percent of all master’s students at our university are international students, and this share continues to grow. I would also like to note that the implementation of Summer University involves our partners, including major enterprises, public institutions, the Ministry of Youth Affairs of the Republic of Tatarstan, the Academy of Youth Diplomacy, museums, and the IT Park,” emphasized the importance of the initiative Timirkhan Alishev, Vice-Rector for External Relations at KFU.
The geography of participants is extensive and includes Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Abkhazia, Transnistria, Brazil, Egypt, Indonesia, India, China, Morocco, Mongolia, Oman, Chile, Vietnam, Malaysia, Serbia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina. A diverse program has been prepared for participants, including lectures and seminars delivered by leading KFU faculty members and industry experts, practical training in modern laboratories, visits to leading companies in the city and the university’s industrial partners, intensive Russian language study and practice, networking opportunities, cultural exchange, collaborative projects, and recreational activities. Participants will also take part in excursions around Kazan and throughout the Republic of Tatarstan. A project-based component is integrated into every track and focuses on visits to leading enterprises, familiarization with their infrastructure and innovative technologies, and the development of research skills. Participants will learn how to generate ideas, assess their market potential, and refine them into fully developed concepts. Working in international teams under the guidance of mentors, they will create their own business projects related to the educational tracks and present them to an expert panel.
