Summer University 2025: Kazan - The City of Knowledge and Hospitality

22 July 2025

From July 21 to August 3, Kazan Federal University is once again hosting participants of the international educational project "Summer University." The grand opening took place at KFU's cultural and sports complex "UNICS."

The KFU-based project brings together students from Benin, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Central Asian countries, Oman, Egypt, China, Indonesia, and other nations, along with 100 Russian students from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Barnaul, Tomsk, and Kazan.

KFU President Riyaz Minzaripov emphasized the event's significance:
"It is a great honor for us to host this major international project for the third time. With over 220 years of history, Kazan University takes pride in its world-class scientists and alumni. Today, we educate more than 12,000 students from 100 countries. We are building a comfortable adaptation environment and strive to make 'Summer University' a space for intercultural communication, mutual understanding, and cooperation. You can look forward to masterclasses, lectures, expert meetings, and an introduction to Tatarstan's history and culture."

Andrey Pominov, First Deputy Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Tatarstan, greeted the participants:
"It is no coincidence that 'Summer University' is being held in Kazan for the third time—home to one of Russia's oldest and most internationally oriented universities. The strong interest of foreign students in studying in Tatarstan confirms the demand for Russia's education system. I am confident the next two weeks will be a time of discovery and inspiration for you all."

Marina Epifantseva, Deputy Head of the Investment Development Agency of the Republic of Tatarstan, welcomed participants in Chinese and Arabic, highlighting Kazan's status as "Russia's third capital."

The project features five educational tracks:

"Horizons of Russia: Dream, Learn, Create"

"Intercultural Interaction of Turkic Peoples in the Eurasian Space"

"Regional Traditions and Modern Trends in Architecture and Design"

"Digital Analytics and Data Engineering"

"Evolution of Life: From Adaptation to Survival"

The "Summer University" program includes lectures, seminars, masterclasses, internships with partner organizations, and a rich cultural and excursion agenda.

The first day featured a networking session and an intellectual quiz about Tatarstan. Participants have already begun sharing their impressions.

Nobel Agossa from Benin, a participant in the digital analytics track, noted:
"I'm extremely interested in learning about Tatarstan and discovering Kazan. I'm immersing myself in a new culture. I chose the 'Digital Analytics and Data Engineering' track because data is highly relevant and in demand today. Artificial intelligence relies on data."
