Science, Friendship, and Kazan: Highlights from the Summer University at KFU

04 August 2025

Two weeks — dozens of lectures, hundreds of new connections, and thousands of vivid impressions. The third season of the Summer University project has concluded at Kazan Federal University, bringing together over 400 students from 32 countries and various Russian regions — from Saint Petersburg to Tuva.

Participants studied across five tracks covering the humanities, technical, and natural sciences:
1. Horizons of Russia: Dream, Learn, Create
2. Intercultural Dialogue of Turkic Peoples in the Eurasian Space
3. Regional Traditions and Modern Trends in Architecture and Design
4. Digital Analytics and Data Engineering
5. The Evolution of Life: From Adaptation to Survival

The classes were delivered by professors from KFU’s leading institutes in the format of lectures, seminars, and project work. Beyond academics, students explored Kazan through excursions, master classes, culinary discoveries, a cultural festival, and vibrant evening events.

Mikhail Abramsky, Director of the Institute of Information Technology and Intelligent Systems, expressed his gratitude to the participants for their active engagement in project development and their kind attitude toward the capital of Tatarstan and Kazan Federal University.

“Thank you for your energy, enthusiasm, and genuine interest. Wishing you all the best — and see you again soon!” said Albina Valeeva, Deputy Director for International Affairs at the Institute of Fundamental Medicine and Biology, addressing the students gathered in the hall.

Some of the tracks were held within the framework of the VII Asian Student Forum Russia — Asia 2025, co-organized by KFU and the Association of Asian Universities. This added further depth to the program: participants discussed scientific cooperation and planned future joint research initiatives.

Over these two weeks, you didn’t just attend lectures — you gained valuable hands-on experience in project work. You’ve shown that the Eurasian space is built on shared culture, history, traditions, and values. What matters most is that, in this atmosphere, you’ve made friends and proven that Eurasia’s future lies in friendship and mutual understanding. I’m confident the knowledge you’ve gained here will serve your future development well. Wishing you great success,” concluded Stanislav Mladenov, curator of the Intercultural Dialogue of Turkic Peoples track.

On the very first day, we met students from China and several African countries. I’ve had an incredible experience here. The most important part was the chance to explore this unique and fascinating city and truly learn something new. I took part in the Digital Analytics and Data Engineering course, where we learned how to work with data streams and analyze them efficiently. If you’re thinking about joining Summer University — don’t hesitate, go for it!” shared Vyacheslav Nosov from the Republic of Kazakhstan, reflecting on his experience and the warm hospitality of Kazan and KFU.

At the closing ceremony, track curators thanked students for their energy and engagement. The project’s symbolic student record book was passed on to Darya Kazantseva from Altai State University. Students who stood out with their outstanding projects received special certificates in recognition of their achievements.
