From the Volga region to Siberia: three Russian universities bring together the participants of the "Summer university — 2026"

06 July 2026

From July 6 to 19, Russia hosts the large-scale international project "Summer university", implemented with the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation. In 2026, the project is being held for the sixth time, and its key venues are three of the country's leading universities: Kazan Federal University (KFU), Ural Federal University (UrFU), and Siberian Federal University (SFU)

This season, 1,290 people became participants in the project, including students of Russian and foreign universities, as well as volunteers and supervisors. The core of the audience consists of international senior undergraduate students from more than 20 countries (including Belarus, Kazakhstan, China, India, Egypt, South Africa, and others). Rich educational programs in Russian and English have been prepared for the participants:

• At KFU, six tracks have been organized, covering software engineering and artificial intelligence, economics and business analytics, architecture and design, medicine, astrophysics, as well as the study of the Russian language and culture.

• At UrFU, participants will undergo training in eight areas, including nuclear and information technologies, economics, management, law, and social sciences and humanities.

• At SFU, nine programs are offered, dedicated to global entrepreneurship and launching startups, business English, digital transformation in the mining and metallurgical sector, tourism, mathematics, computer text analysis, and psycho-pedagogical technologies.

Special attention at all venues is paid to the project block and teamwork. The key partner of the project this year is the Rosatom State Corporation. In addition, more than 10 organizations are partners of the project at the universities. Under the guidance of industry mentors, students will visit leading enterprises, participate in hackathons, and defend their own business projects before experts. A rich cultural program awaits the guests, with excursions to historical sites of Tatarstan, the Sverdlovsk region, and iconic sites of Siberia, including the Stolby National Park and the country's largest hydroelectric power stations.

The "Summer university" is implemented thanks to the national project "Youth and children", which is aimed at creating favorable conditions for the development of young people, providing opportunities for education, professional growth, and scientific careers.
