Students from 17 countries gathered today in the university’s assembly hall as the annual Summer University program kicked off. Until August 3, participants will study and explore Ural’s culture in a bilingual format. This year’s academic partner is the Ural State Law University, with industry support from major companies including Sberbank, Kontur, Sima-Land, ASCON, SprutCam, and others.
"I’m delighted to welcome you to Ural Federal University, located in one of Russia’s most beautiful and industrially powerful cities—Yekaterinburg. Together with the Russian Ministry of Education and Science, we’ve ensured these two weeks will be both enriching and productive, showcasing the high caliber of our specialist training and the opportunities we offer in science and research," said Acting Rector Ilya Obabkov.
The program features multiple tracks: nuclear technology, food biotechnology, management, business digital transformation, artificial intelligence, and youth leadership. Project-based learning is a key component, with the best projects in each field presented to industry experts at the final showcase.
"Over 35 law students from partner universities, members of the ‘Eurasian Legal University’ Consortium, as well as participants from Moldova and Republika Srpska, have come to Yekaterinburg for the humanitarian-legal track. This year’s theme is ‘Technological Leadership: Humanitarian Initiatives, Social Engineering, and Legal Support.’ Ural State Law University professors will deliver lectures on nuclear energy regulation and international law within the EAEU framework regarding peaceful nuclear technologies. Participation offers foreign students a chance to explore our university, admissions processes, and even visit the Sverdlovsk Regional Legislative Assembly and leading law firms," noted Vladimir Bubik, Rector of Ural State Law University.
The cultural program includes campus and city tours, a National Hospitality Evening, museum visits, and explorations of Yekaterinburg’s parks and landmarks.
"The Summer University is an ideal platform for international students to discover UrFU’s educational opportunities, academic practices, and regional culture. For two weeks, they’ll immerse themselves in a truly international environment, uniting over 17 countries," said Yana Vysotskaya, Head of the Summer University project.
This year, three universities are hosting the program: UrFU, Kazan (Volga Region) Federal University, and Siberian Federal University. Over 1,000 participants will experience Russia’s educational excellence, cutting-edge research, and centuries-old traditions.
